HEALTH INSURANCE COMPLAINT RATIOS
Most people look at an insurance company’s rating by the financial organization, such as AM Best, but those ratings judge a company by its financial condition, not how it treats its customers. We think that complaint information is a better guideline than just financial information.
The Texas Department of Insurance has published complaint data for a number of years. Especially useful (we think) is the complaint ratio: the number of justified complaints per Texas policyholder. Here are the rations for a number of Texas companies for the last two years.
